WHAT IS B CORP?
B Corp is an internationally recognised certification for businesses that want to demonstrate a commitment to responsible business.
Certification looks beyond what a business sells or the profit it makes, examining how the business operates and the impact it has on the people and world around it.
Businesses are assessed against standards set by B Lab, the non-profit organisation behind B Corp certification.
WHY B CORP?
Plenty of businesses are proud of the way they operate and want people to know about it. B Corp certification gives them an independently assessed way of demonstrating that commitment.
It also gives customers and others choosing who they want to buy from, work with or support something tangible to look for. Rather than simply taking a business’s word for it, they can see that its claims have been assessed against recognised standards.
WHAT DOES B CORP SUPPORT LOOK LIKE?
Every business comes to B Corp from a different starting point. You may already be doing far more than you realise, but haven’t captured the evidence to demonstrate it. Equally, the process may highlight areas where changes need to be made.
We work through the requirements with you, helping you understand what applies to your business and what B Lab is asking you to demonstrate. We can look at the evidence you already have and help you work out what still needs to be put in place.
How involved we are is up to you. You may want support throughout the certification process or simply need expertise at particular points when you’re unsure how to proceed.
The aim isn’t to create a pile of paperwork for certification and forget about it afterwards. What you put in place should make sense for the business you’re actually running.
THE B CORP STANDARDS HAVE CHANGED
B Corp certification has undergone its biggest change to date, with new standards changing both what businesses need to demonstrate and how certification works.
The new approach moves away from accumulating points across the assessment. Businesses now need to meet requirements that apply to them across B Lab’s Impact Topics, alongside the Foundation Requirements.
